Tri-M Music Honor Society

Wayne Valley High School sponsors a chapter of the international music honor society known as Tri-M.  The society is affiliated with the National Association For Music Education (NAfME) which is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of music education.

Tri-M shares and supports the objectives of every dedicated music educator to increase student and school involvement with music and to strengthen and unify the school music program.  Tri-M offers a complete system of rewards that help motivate effort and recognize excellence in individuals and chapters.  With this system, the society builds self-esteem and provides a channel for personal fulfillment.  A student who is inducted as a Tri-M member has achieved one of the highest honors in Wayne Valley's Music Department.

A student who is inducted as a Tri-M member has achieved one of the highest musical honors at Wayne Valley. In order to become a member the student must meet the following criteria.

1.      The student must be enrolled in a curricular Wayne Valley High School performing music ensemble.
2.      The student must maintain a grade of cumulative 3.0 GPA, and a 3.5 GPA in their curricular ensembles.
3.      The student must have a recommendation from the director of his/her major performing ensemble attesting to citizenship, leadership abilities and general cooperation as an ensemble member.

Tri-M is a service based organization which brings music to the Wayne community through several performance opportunities such as performing at senior centers, concerts and recitals, outreach to the middle school and elementary schools, helping younger students. Tri-M also works closely with other chapters from neighboring districts.
