Dear WTPS Community, As we stand on the threshold of a new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for our journey ahead. Whether you are returning to our schools or joining us for the first time, I welcome each of you—students, families, teachers, staff, and community members. Together, we are a strong and vibrant community committed to the success of every student. This year, we will continue to foster an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired. Our dedicated staff has been working tirelessly to prepare our schools for another year of growth, learning, and discovery. We are also excited to introduce several new initiatives this year, including a new learning management system for our high school students, significant security and technology upgrades, parent outreach programs, and a variety of facility enhancements at each of our schools. We will also continue to build upon our Profile of a Graduate project (Click here to view: bit.ly/4eaitmS). These efforts represent our ongoing commitment to providing a well-rounded, high-quality education that prepares our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. As we embark on this new academic year, please stay engaged and connected with our schools. Your involvement is key to the success of our students and our district. Whether through volunteering, attending school events, or simply staying informed, your participation makes a difference. In closing, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a year filled with learning, growth, and achievement! Warm regards, Mark Toback Superintendent of Schools bit.ly/3TfNttE

Sue-Anne Alonso - Wayne Valley High School - Science Teacher From June 28 - July 28, I participated in a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad to South Korea. Fourteen teachers from New Jersey, including Adam Fleisher, Chemistry teacher at Wayne Valley High School, participated in the cultural immersion experience. Dr. Angie Woo and Dr. Carrie Hong, from William Paterson University, led the group project abroad. We spent the time visiting schools, engaging in lectures from renowned professors, learning hangul, teaching a lesson at Suwon Academy of World Language, meeting with governing bodies of education and policy making organizations, sampling the Korean cuisine, and visiting tourist sites such as the Demilitarized Zone, Namsan Tower, Gukje market, Hanok villages, temples, fortresses, museums, and even a smart hydroponic greenhouse.
Gina Anthony - Wayne Hills High School - Math Teacher I watched my four year old daughter ring the opening bell at the NYSE. As a nearly two year survivor of kidney cancer, my daughter and other warriors had this opportunity to be on the NYSE floor provided by A Moment of Magic Foundation. We also traveled with members of our extended family, Kayleigh and Sutton on my daughter’s Make a Wish Trip to Disney World. For 6 days, she was treated like royalty at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Universal. We had the time of our lives!
Patty Coviello - Central Office - Administrative Assistant I normally go on a summer vacation to Cape May with my sisters, Terry, Barbara, and Nancy. We have been doing this for 18 years. We decided to change it up and go to Newport Rhode Island where we walked the Cliff Walk, saw the Great Elephant Migration exhibit, and took a tour on a trolley ride around Newport. We then headed out to Misquamicut Beach, where we enjoyed shopping, swimming, and excellent dining. Our last stop was a ferry ride to Block Island.
Laura Healy - Schuyler Colfax Middle School - Media Specialist Over the summer we visited family in Ireland. I traveled with my husband (Kevin) and 2 daughters (Grace and Sheila).
Rosalie Vallario - Wayne Hills High School - Art Teacher This summer my daughter, Noelle, and I visited Italy - we were in Rome , Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Highlights were seeing the Pope and hiking the Trail of the Gods on the Amalfi coast.
Debbie Giambatista - Central Office - Administrative Assistant I went to Seaside Park, NJ with my husband, Gary. We unplugged and sat on the beach most days. It was nice not to wear shoes for a week!
Colleen Vassallo - James Fallon - Paraprofessional I competed in a Curling Competition at Lake Placid Olympic Arena and my team won 1st place! I stayed in Lake Placid for 5 days with my husband and my teammate, Michelle. The competition was so much fun! We Curled for over 2 hours. It was amazing being on the same ice the Olympic Games are / were played.
