The Director of Special Services shall be directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent for the district-wide supervision of Special Education, including instructional and clerical staff from pre-K to
Grade 12.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Exercise leadership in the research, development, implementation and evaluation of Special Education Programs to ensure district compliance with state and federal regulations.

Coordinate staff training relevant to the special needs population in all levels.

Evaluate Child Study Team members and the district's Special Education staff.

Monitor the programs for Wayne students requiring out of district placements.

Work collaboratively with district building administration, guidance chairpersons and testing coordinators to schedule local and state assessments for classified pupils in the schools.

Communicate and confer with parents.

Review, approve and ensure the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the district's classified students.
- Participate in the generation of local, state and federal reports.
