North Shore Animal League Teacher of the Month
Lisa Klink, Special Education Science Teacher at Schuyler-Colfax Middle School, was honored as Teacher of the Month by the North Shore Animal League. Mrs. Klink was recognized for her work with the curriculum webpage "North Shore Animal Shelter's Muttigrees". Mrs. Klink and her students developed instructional materials called "Quattro's Paws for Hope" based on the real life story of Quattro, a cat from Paterson, NJ that was severely beaten and injured by a group of grade school children. The shelter visited Schulyler-Colfax on September 22 to present the award. Mrs. Klink and her students were also treated to an assembly complete with a visit from two shelter dogs, Turtle and Simba.
Elementary Student Performance Reports
During our second year of implementation, revised elementary performance reports in the areas of English Language Arts and Math, as well as newly created rubrics to supplement the reports, are being shared at parent forums in each of our elementary schools. These documents are now available for parent reference on the district website's Director of Elementary Education webpage. You may view the documents by clicking here.
